Storms and floods hit areas along the Yangtze River and Huaihe River in recent months. China's National Meteorological Center forecast that rainfall in south China will weaken in the next few days, while the northeast is expecting another round of heavy rains.

He Lifu, chief forecaster of Central Meteorological Station, said, "The changing of the rain belt in the next few days is still not very clear. Rainfall along the Yangtze River and Huaihe River is weakening. But still there will be thundershowers downstream on the Yangtze River over the next few days."

Weather forecasters also say over the next three days, Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces will experience rainstorms and torrential rains. In northern China the heat wave baking Beijing will continue. Beijing is also experiencing stifling humidity. The heat and humidity will hang around Beijing and its neighboring areas for about a week. People are advised to slow down and not to exert themselves, if possible, during the hottest time of the day.
