Heavy rains and flooding continue to ravage regions around China. While many people are suffering because of the heavy rains, there are also stories of amazing rescue.

In Shangluo City, in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, one young boy narrowly escaped from a torrential flood. Yang Yan takes a look at how firefighters managed to save the boy.

The incident happened on Saturday when a torrent hit unexpectedly, engulfing a house and a 12-year-old boy.

Firefighters rushed to the site and tried to swim over to the boy, but the rapid water impeded their first attempt.

A firefighter said, "The current is so rapid, and there're trees and stuff blocking the way ahead."

Firefighters then took a second shot--climbing down an express way, then climbing over a gate.

He nearly succeeded, but the quick moving waters thwarted his efforts. Firefighters were forced to go back.

They then regrouped for a third attempt and the two hour operation finally paid off but not without some heart stopping moments.

The father said, "I called the firefighters the minute I discovered my son was trapped. I really really appreciate it."
