The State Flood Control and Draught Relief Headquarters says as of Wednesday, 130 million people have been affected by the rain. Tragically 928 people died and 477 others are missing.

Torrential rain is sweeping across China, creating dangerous conditions in many areas. The second largest flood peak this year hit Yangtze River this morning. The water level of the Dan-jiang-kou Reservoir on the Hanjiang River, the second largest tributary of Yangtze River, soared to a record high. Torrential rain also triggered severe floods in Songhua River in northeastern China's Jilin Province.

Water levels in its 11 branches climbed to historic highs. In southern China's Guangdong Province, Shenzhen was hit by the strongest rain this year. The rain is expected to hit another 16 cities in neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
