One of Chinese mainland's biggest and most prestigious pop music awards, the CCTV-MTV Music Awards, held its launching ceremony for this year in Beijing on Monday. Taking part in the ceremony were leaders of China Central Television and MTV Music Channel, along with representatives of pop artists.

In its 10th year, this awards ceremony will be handing out 19 awards in order to reward the most popular pop musicians as well as those who made great contribution to the Chinese music industry in the past year.

On October 18th, many famous pop artists from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan will congregate at Beijing's Wukesong Stadium.

Also, mega stars from Asia as well as international superstars will attend the ceremony.

The awards for this year are divided into three categories, including Jury's Review Awards, Viewers' Choice Awards, and the Organizing Committee's Awards. Now, viewers can log on to CCTV and MTV China's website, or send text messages to vote for their favorite artists and songs.

Since its inception in 1999, the CCTV-MTV Music Awards ceremony not only started off the local awards ceremony's trend, but also created one of the most famous and most valuable music brands in mando-pop.
