One of the ways the Dalian fashion scene plans to connect with its international audience is by promoting its theme for 2010 -- "Fusion."

To better show the latest fashion trends, World Expo Plaza is divided into 4 areas highlighting 4 categories of style: there's retro, open style, Asian neonationalism, and low-carbon living.

What makes this fair different from previous ones is that it shows fashion trends for ready-made apparel.

Lin Zhijun, Art Director of China Int'l Garment and Textile Fair "In the past, what we did was just to follow the old rules, for instance, the matching of fabrics and clothes. Many pieces of fabrics have been popular overseas for one or two years before becoming popular in China. We lagged behind some countries by two or three years, which was misleading for audiences. This year, we integrated ideas for garments in advance, and tried to be a pacesetter, so we can get the earliest possible market response."
