Singapore President S R Nathan graced the official light-up and opening ceremony. He unveiled Singapore's largest photo mosaic lantern that is 2.5 meters wide and 4 meters tall, on which are printed over a thousand Singaporeans collected from the internet.

A thousand lanterns from ten countries and regions including China, Egypt,Japan, Vietnam, India and Myanmar are showcased.

During the celebration, the main thoroughfare of China town will be soaked in colorful street procession and 16 performances involving over 600 performers. Highlights of the street parade shows include a mass display of 18 dragons and festive doll puppets. A glowing 88 feet long LED dragon whose body is fitted with 3000 LED lights will be danced by a ten-men troupe.

The China Town will gather more than 300 festival stalls offering a dazzling array of festive goodies like moon cakes, pomelos, lanterns, handicraft and decorative items.
