President Hu Jintao has met with visiting World Bank President Robert Zoellick in Beijing.

Hu Jintao said China pays great attention to the World Bank's efforts in reducing poverty and developing the global economy. He also pledged to step up cooperation with the World Bank based on mutual benefits.

Hu Jintao reiterated China's stance on contributing to world development and prosperity. For his part, Zoellick spoke highly of cooperation with China. He said the World Bank is willing to work together with China to promote the country's economic development.
