Six people from Sweden, the US, France, Japan,Chinese mainland and Taiwan have been named as official panda ambassadors, or "pambassadors."

They were chosen from 60-thousand online applications from across the world. That list was whittled down to 12 people, who battled it out all week to become a pambassador. The winners, who were announced Wednesday afternoon, will spend the next four weeks caring for pandas in Chengdu. They will also blog about their experiences at pandahome.com in a campaign to raise awareness of the endangered creature's plight.
