Six people from Sweden, France, Japan, the US, the Chinese mainland, and Taiwan have been named as official Panda Ambassadors, or "Pambassadors."

60-thousand people from 52 countries and regions across the world submitted applications to become "Pambassadors."

That was reduced to a short list of 12. The finalists have been battling it out all week for just six vacant positions at the Chengdu Panda Base and Breeding Center in southwest China.

This week's competition included a quiz on pandas, how to care for them properly, and how to build bamboo construction platforms for them.

All of the finalists proved just how passionate about pandas they are, and Chinese culture.

On Wednesday, the winners were announced a nerve-racking ceremony for the candidates.

The six "Pambassadors" will now spend four weeks at the Chengdu Panda Base to care for six much loved pandas including Jing Jing, Mei Lan, Xing Bang, and Qi Qi.

They will also blog online about their experiences. And act as global ambassadors and spokespeople for the protection of pandas.
