Friday marks the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. People around the country are making their final preparations to celebrate the festival in different ways.

In northwestern Xi'an city, this landmark square is decorated with 600,000 flower pots. Inside the old city, all streets have been decorated in a festive flavor, with flower baskets hanging from every single street lamp.

A pull-and-push game is being played on the water in Guangzhou. Two people sitting in a wooden barrel pull from side to side. The game is finished when one side falls into the water.

Tourist said, "This is my first time to see it. I can't help laughing."

In southwestern Yunnan Province, which is known for ethnic culture and a hot spot for tourism during holidays, people are ready to welcome the visitors.

Restaurants, hotels and transportation are all in full swing, local youths are busy rehearsing for their performances.

Over to northeastern Heilongjiang Province, Hezhe ethnic minority residents are dancing and singing with border soldiers to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic.
