The solar-powered probe carried by China's second lunar probe Chang'e-2 has begun working. This marks the commencement of the lunar orbiter's scientific mission.

Scientists monitoring the journey of Chang'e-2 say data transmitted back indicate that the temperature, voltage and power readings are all within the normal range.

Chang'e-2 is carrying 7 pieces of such equipment. The equipment is responsible for surveying the environment between the earth and the moon.
