The flame of the Guangzhou Asian Games has been collected at the Great Wall in northern Beijing. The flame was successful lit despite an overcast morning in the capital city.

The flame collection ceremony took place at the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall, one of the icons of the whole structure. This was also a tribute to the 1990 Asian Games held in Beijing two decades ago.

17 female flame ambassadors helped the igniting ceremony. A concave mirror was used to focus the sunshine's energy to light the flame rod.

Kang Chenchen, a college student from Yunnan Institute of Art kindled the flame from mirror. She then transferred the flame from the rod to the kindle box.

The Games torch will be lit at the Temple of Heaven next Tuesday on the occasion of 1-month countdown to the start of the games. The 1-month torch relay will be carried out across major cities of China. The 16th Asian Games will open on Nov. 12th this year in Guangzhou, south China.
