Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan Province is known as the "hometown of dinosaur fossils."

Many rare dinosaur fossils including China's oldest and largest dinosaurs were excavated there.

In recent years, the local government is tapping into these unique resources to develop tourism, which will benefit the lives of the local people.

Luo Jiayou was a farmer who lived in the Lufeng County of the Autonomous Prefecture. Now, he is one of the first people in his village to join the excavation team to recover dinosaur fossils.

He became a celebrity in his village when he was officially assigned the post to join a team of professional archaeologists and repair these fossils.

Now, there are about sixty to seventy villagers engaging in such jobs outside their agricultural tasks.

Six years ago, a dinosaur valley park was constructed in the prefecture. Since its opening two years ago, the park received more than two million visitors. Now the valley's second phase has begun construction.

Since 1938, dinosaur fossils have been constantly found in Lufeng county. More than 30 species and hundreds of complete dinosaur fossils have been unearthed there.

Chuxiong prefecture is also known for "Yuanmou Man", the fossils of ancient ape about 80 million years ago, which is believed to be the earliest trace of human settlement in China.
