For the past six months, taxi driver Huang Weibing has driven all over the city in one of 350 Buick hybrids designed for the World Expo. But when the event ends on Sunday..the car will be taken out of service.

Many commuters are also upset...saying they wanted to see more hybids used on Shanghai streets.

The hybrids cost more than 200,000 yuan each...nearly 3 times the price of a regular car. While they use about 15 percent less fuel than normal taxis....operating costs are much higher.

The taxi company that owns these cars says, it's still deciding how the vehicles will be used in the future....and they could be used as rental cars. Company officials say, the hybrids could also return to service... but only if they can charge higher fares than regular taxis.
