The cold wave sweeping China shows no sign of letting up soon. Inner Mongolia and Northwest China are still seeing falling temperatures and strong winds. And in the southwest, temperatures in Sichuan, Guizhou and Guangxi are also expected to drop from 6 to 10 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave has brought snow to much of northern China.

Snow fell for the 27th time this month in Fuyuan county in Heilongjiang province. The blizzard left 30 centimeters in urban roads.

A similar scene is in the coastal city of Weihai in Shandong province. The whole city is blanketed, and visibility is less than 100 meters. Additional traffic policemen are on duty at the major downtown streets.

Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia, is welcoming it's the first snowfall of the season.

"We've been hoping for the snow fall, because it can ease the drought."

"Though the snow came a little bit late, I'm very happy to see it before Spring Festival."

Heavier snow is forecast for Hohhot in 5 days, and after that, the temperature will drop another 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.
