Every year, as the clock nears midnight on December the 31st, the eyes of the world turn to the dazzling lights and bustling energy of New York's Times Square. The world holds its breath and cheers as the clock strikes twelve.

This year, organizers of the Times Square New Year celebration have tested the iconic and colorful Waterford Crystal Ball. With a brief countdown, organizers flipped the light switch to launch the new-look sphere which weighs more than 11-thousand pound. It's now decorated with some 2,600 Waterford crystals and over 3,2000 LEDs.

This year's theme is "Let There Be Love". All over the world, millions of people are expected to watch the New Year's Eve ball drop either in Times Square, on television, or online.
