Just two hours ago, Chinese President Hu Jintao landed in the US capital, Washington DC for a four-day state visit. The visit, which is being described as the most important meeting between the leaders of the two countries in three decades, is aimed at enhancing their positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship.

During the visit, President Hu and his US counterpart Barack Obama will map out a blueprint together for China-US cooperation. Hu Jintao will attend a welcome ceremony and a state dinner in Washington.

The Chinese President is also scheduled to meet with some US Congress members and other groups. After Washington, Hu Jintao will visit the midwestern city of Chicago.

Before leaving for the United States, Hu Jintao said China and the United States should act in the fundamental interests of the two peoples and uphold the overall interests of world peace and development. He said both sides should rise up to challenges, remove disturbances, work for shared goals and promote the continuous growth in bilateral relations.

Many believe that China and the U.S should seek common ground and avoid getting tangled up in differences so they can work together for a better future of both countries.
