You may never have to fill your tank up again. Just in time for rising gas prices, the auto industry is unveiling a new line up of fuel efficient cars. It's part of the annual showcase at this year's North American International Auto Show.

It's considered the golden child of green cars. Now -- the Toyota Prius is about to give birth.

Bob Carter, General Manager, Toyota Motors, said, "We're gonna have a number of different technologies out on the market. It's our position that we don't think one technology is necessarily gonna satisfy all consumers in the future."

Fuel economy has also become the focus of Ford -- which is moving towards a fleet of smaller -- better mileage vehicles. It's a personal mission for company Chairman Bill Ford.

Bill Ford, Chairman of Ford, said, "I love the fact that we're now signaling our intent on fuel economy across the board. Not just electrification but with everything we're doing. I think it's the right thing to do and I'm proud of our company for doing it."
