The Spring Festival Holiday is hailed as the golden holiday week. And this year, the nickname comes for good reason. Revenue gained in the travel industry has reached a new high. And folk culture turned out to be a big winner, too.

In order to attract cultural tourists this year, many places around China planned lots of cultural activities such as temple fairs, folk culture shows, and lantern festivals. Meanwhile, some people enjoyed winter sports like skiing. Provinces such as Sichuan, Hubei and Chongqing started promoting their skiing destinations this year.

Compared with previous years, travel peaks during the Spring Festival have been extended. Of course, the hotel business is hot during Spring Festival. Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou are still full of visitors.

Going abroad is also a hot option. In Beijing, the number of people that traveled outside the country during the official 7-day holiday increased by 60 percent.
