The Mobile World Congress is taking place in Barcelona, Spain. A 4G technology pioneered by China, has become a major focus.

At the congress, operators from India, Japan, the US, and several European countries announced they will use the TD-LTE technology in new commercial networks.

More than 60 operators are considering this technology in the future.

As a new mobile communications technology, TD-LTE is endowed with strong compatibility that enable subscribers to roam and switch to different networks freely.

Wang Jianzhou, Executive Director of China Mobile said "The compatibility of different networks can be achieved with the adoption of the LTE technology. That's our goal of one client, one terminal."

China Mobile says that the technology brings fundamental changes to the world telecommunications scene.

China Mobile has signed cooperation agreements with 9 global players, to build 26 TD-LTE test networks.

Insiders forecast that in just five years' time, 90 million mobile phone users will subscribe to networks based on TD-LTE technology.
