Lantern making may be a fun pastime for them, but it is a life-long career for Wang Fuxin in Henan Province.

The 82-year-old man is the only old-school artist living in Luoyang City who insists on hand making lanterns. His consummate skill has earned him the title Inheritor of Cultural Heritage recognized by the government.

The Wang family started the profession some two hundred years ago. But now few among the younger generation of the family has fully grasped the traditional craft which involves over seventy procedures.
