People across China are celebrating Lantern festival. Falling on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar year, the festival takes place under a full moon and marks the end of Chinese new year festivities.

Lantern exhibition at night is a must during the festival, and sometimes lanterns will line an entire street. Technological advances have enabled lanterns to be embellished with more complex designs, including animal shapes. Eating Yuan Xiao is also a popular activity. Made of glutinous rice, Yuan Xiao are rolled with a filling of sesame, peanuts, or even meat. The round shape and sweet taste symbolize unity and happiness. Lion dances are another popular activity during the festival.
