Evacuated Chinese return home safely from Libya

Two groups of Chinese nationals escaping the violent situation in Libya have safely arrived home.

A first group of 43 workers for a Chinese construction firm arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport on Thursday morning, after flying from the Egyptian port of Alexandria.

The group had been working on a construction site in Tobruk, 500 kilometers away from Benghazi.

"I was quite worried when the unrest started. Those people pointed at us with guns. Then we were evacuated. It went well. We're happy. Thank you to my mother nation!"

A second group of 40 Chinese nationals have returned to Shanghai.The Qatar Airlines flight carrying the Chinese citizens landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The 40 people and an earlier group of 43 people are all workers from the China Building Technique Group. The Chinese Foreign Ministry says so far more than 4,600 Chinese nationals have been evacuated from Libya.
