The Tokyo Electric Power Company has released the footage shot on March 24th, showing the crippled Number 4 Reactor at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

Smoke was seen rising while water was being dumped onto the reactor.

TEPCO has been criticized for its handling of the emergency at Fukushima. Experts say the lack of information and inconsistent data made it hard to understand what was happening.

The Japanese government has so far rejected the call to extend the exclusion zone. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano says the evacuation of residents near the plant will be a long-term operation.

Yukio Edano, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary, said, "There is no doubt, judging from the situation, that the evacuation order cannot be lifted, for example, in a few days or a few months. So therefore, the government are giving instructions on how to proceed with the continuation of children's education, and the employment of people who are unable to work because of the evacuation order."
