Two Englishmen battled to decide snooker's China Open Sunday night. Judd Trump faced Mark Selby over 18 frames in the final at Beijing.

Selby started well. He took a 35-34 lead in the first frame.

But the 21-year-old native of Bristol did an even better job. Trump knocked in two 104 breaks to stun the world number four. He opened up a 3 frames-to-1 advantage.

Trump followed that by jumping out to a 65-4 lead in frame eight. Then he missed a shot and let a relieved Selby try for a comeback as they played through the 15th frame.

Selby reached the final of the German Masters, but was looking for his first major title since winning the Welsh Open three years ago. The veteran levelled at 8-8. He still never managed to get in front despite nailing three century breaks.

Trump turned out to be the boss on Sunday night. Selby missed a shot while he was 41 ahead in the 18th frame, and that proved to be his last shot of the tournament. Trump cleared a decisive pink and walked away with the China Open title.
