It's not just Lishan Primary School coming to grips with a new kitchen. Another 12 county-level campuses in Yunnan Province have also received upgrades. Some of the sites have already started using their renovated facilities. Now CCTV reporter Zhang Shuo takes a look at how students are quickly feeling the benefits of their refurbished galleys.

This is the debut of the new kitchen system in Panlong Primary School. After fiddling all morning, fresh soybean milk is finally available.

First grade students are the first batch to taste the new drink.

"How is the soybean milk?"

"It tastes good!"

"Is it enough?"

"Yes."

But still asking for more.

The milk machine is one of the new appliances at the school. A Mangler, refrigerator, and various tableware are all in place for food preparation.

Zhou Faming is the headmaster of the school. He says the new system really helps in improving the quality of food.

Zhou Faming, Headmaster of Panlong Primary School said "We can hire two or three people less in the kitchen now. Because of the new system, we can use the money to serve the students with better food."

But this is still far from meeting demand. Panlong Primary School has 260 boarding students. Everyday, all these students separately sit in 24 tables to eat. 10 kids have to strive for three dishes and a soup, which is not enough for a growing child.

But the situation won't last too long. China Youth Development Foundation launched an activity recently to support 100 boarding schools every year in less developed regions. And so far 20 schools have already received the new kitchen system.
