China's top legislature has unveiled proposed changes to the country's individual income tax law, and is soliciting public opinions on the amendment.

The proposed changes include raising the minimum level of income subject to tax to 3 thousand yuan a month, from the current level of 2,000 yuan. That's aimed at relieving the tax burden on low income households.

Media reports say legislators reviewing the proposed changes expressed praise overall, and suggested some amendments. The period for public feedback will be a month. Members of the public can express their views by either logging on to the National People's Congress's website or by post.
