Two wild elephants have gone on a rampage in southern India, killing at least one person and injuring several others.

Horrific footage shows two wild elephants attacking a local man and a small cow after going on a three-hour orgy of destruction in an Indian town. The innocent man in the clip was known as a 55-year-old security guard from a nearby market area of Mysore city, in Southern India.

Indian television aired footage showing one of the elephants angrily kicking a cow in the city of Mysore in Karnataka state on Wednesday. One elephant was later tranquilized, while the other was trapped inside a farm.

Both elephants are now in the care of wildlife officials. Hundreds die every year in India when wild animals wander into cities. As the natural habitats of the animals are eroded, they begin roaming further afield to find food, sometimes ending up in urban areas.
