NATO has resumed operations over Tripoli, as aircraft launched strikes on the heart of the capital. The renewed bombardment comes after a brief respite that followed the heaviest day of bombing since the campaign began.

NATO airstrikes continue to pound the Libyan capital, an operation originally designed to enforce a no-fly zone. Three months on, the raids are happening on a daily basis, but the signs that these efforts are paying off seems to be limited.

On the ground, at least 12 rebel fighters have been killed and 35 wounded in clashes with Gaddafi's forces in Zlitan, the frontline town in the battle against the rebel-held city of Misrata.

A rebel spokesman from inside the town says that Misrata is experiencing heavy shelling, and that Gaddafi's forces are pounding the area from the east, west and south There was no immediate comment from the Gaddafi administration.
