The title was bestowed upon Junrey Balawing, in the southern city of Sindangans. He was measured at a height of 60 centimeters during the ceremony. A representative from Guinness World Records then presented Balawing with official recognition, as the shortest adult male on the planet.

However, due to being the size of a toddler, and boasting a child's demeanor, Balawing has weak knees, and needs support to stand. No cash award accompanies the Guinness Certificate, but the company representative says he hopes international fame will attract gifts and donations, especially medical supplies to ensure the new honoree's health.
