DEHP, the industrial plasticizer found in Taiwan's food industry is also threatening the mainland. The scandal is attracting much attention on both sides of the strait as more mainland food companies become involved.

In Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province in Eastern China, investigators examined four suspicious companies. They found DEHP in Xihu Spice Manufacturing Base of Hangzhou Yixiangyuan Biotechnology Science and Technology. All its products have been banned.

However, a company in Guangdong Province whose products also contain DEHP is still operating. The order record proved that Meiyi Fragrances Company was in business until last Saturday. Now the Province is taking action inspecting the entire food production process and circulation, and catering industry, focusing on imported ingredients from Taiwan and other illegal additives.
