Now, let's take a journey to Shannan Prefecture located in the southern part of Tibetan Autonomous Region, bordering Lhasa to the north and Bhutan and India to the south.

Having Tibet's first farmland, first palace and the first Buddhist monastery located in the area, Shannan is known as the birthplace of Tibetan Civilization. Now let's travel there and have a look at its vivid culture scene.

The scenery in Shannan Prefecture is quite different from that of Lhasa and other Tibetan regions. The uniqueness comes from its green fields, luxuriant vegetation and delicate Tibetan houses.

Gyaideshiu Town in Gonggar County is famous for its "Bangdian" aprons, not only among the women of Tibet, but they are also in demand in Nepal, India, Bhutan and Western Europe. A "Bangdian" is an apron of China's Tibetan ethnic group with a historic heritage of some 15-hundred years of hand weaving. The technique is designated as a state-level intangible cultural heritage.

Tenzin Dolma is one of the local inheritors of the "Bangdian" craft. She manages her father's weaving factory, and now most women in the village work for the factory as a part-time job. This collective effort has contributed high profits to the village and local families.

Tenzin Dolma said, "We have customers from Asian countries such as Japan and India. The annual income of the factory is about 200-thousand Yuan."
