Paris Fashion Week got underway on Monday. To ensure a classy start, Anne Valerie Hash displayed her Autumn/Winter collection to the professional scene of fashion and design.
In an intimate show near Paris' Eiffel Tower, the French designer presented a range of flowing blouses, single-shoulder backless dresses and silk-draped tuxedos.
With a show that had only two models, the designer said the industry was still feeling the absence of former Chief Designer of Dior, John Galliano. However, as Dior has appointed Bill Gaytten as new artistic director, Hash said the prospects remained good, equating the products to fine French food, which sells the world over.
Anna Valerie Hash said, "We always think haute couture is going to disappear, but I don't think so because the hand gives emotion to people. Sewing was the first thing we did. Even if there were all machines of the world, just to sew is something that can help people feel good. It's like to do gastronomy."
The show itself was a silky affair, with a concoction of silk dresses and all-in-ones, which Hash hoped would portray the fashion house's timeless elegance for its tenth anniversary.
The French designer also chose to present a variety of crepe and mousseline blouses and shirt-dresses, materials she said were chosen to represent the fragility of femininity.
