Daguanlou: The birthplace of Chinese cinema

Ren Qing Tai is known as the father of Chinese cinema. In 1903 he established the Daguanlou movie theatre in Beijing's Qianmen District, which remains in its original location today. This historical theatre is in the Guinness Book of World Records as being the oldest running movie theatre in the world. It is widely recognized as the birthplace of Chinese cinema.
