Zhu Min's career path: Road to IMF Deputy MD

The 59-year-old worked at the World Bank as an economist for six years from 1990 to 1996. He then held senior positions at the Bank of China from 2003 to 2009, responsible for finance and treasury, risk management and others.

After that, Zhu became a Deputy Governor of the People's Bank of China. International affairs, policy research and credit information were among his job responsibilities.

On May 3rd 2010, Zhu assumed the position of Special Advisor to Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, under Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

And after being appointed by the IMF's current Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, Zhu Min becomes the first Chinese deputy managing director since the Fund was set up in 1944.
