Japan sacks 3 nuclear officials

Japan has fired three senior nuclear policy officials amid scandals that have fueled public mistrust over the government's relationship with the nuclear industry.

Those sacked include the head of the Energy Agency, the head of the Nuclear Industrial Safety Agency and a Vice Minister from the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry.

Japan's post-tsunami handling of the Fukushima nuclear crisis has been hit recently by scandals over allegations that the government was too friendly with the nuclear industry.

The shakeup aims to calm public uproar, but Prime Minister Naoto Kan's government continues to face a questions about its response to the crisis.
