Violence has continued in London for a third day, as rioters clashed with police in the eastern neighborhood of Hackney. It followed a weekend of unrest in various locations across the city in which more than 200 people were arrested.

Shop windows have been smashed, polices vans attacked, and cars set ablaze in Hackney.

Police have also come under fire from projectiles including petrol bombs.

Trains are not stopping at Hackney Central Station and no buses are going to the areas of Lewisham or Peckham in the south of the city, due to the riots.

Police are trying to contain the violence after two nights of rioting and looting on the streets of London.

Britain's Home Secretary Theresa May said the violence was totally unacceptable.

She said, "Let me absolutely clear, those responsible for this violence and looting, will be made to face the consequences of their actions. So far there have been at least 215 arrests and 27 people have been charged , but as the police take statement from witnesses, as they look at CCTV evidence, then more arrests will be made."
