Rick Perry announces republican candidacy

In the US, Texas Governor Rick Perry has formally entered the race to become the next Republican presidential candidate.

He joins a list of other Republicans seeking to unseat US President Barack Obama, in next November's presidential poll. Perry outlined his principles during a speech on Saturday, at a conservative conference in Charleston, South Carolina.

Rick Perry, Texas Governor said "We'll create the jobs and the progress that's going to be needed to get America working again. I promise you this: I'll work every day to try to make Washington DC as inconsequential in your life as I can. And at the time we'll be freeing our families and small business and states from the burdensome and costly federal government so that those groups can create and innovate and succeed. I believe in America. I believe in her purpose and her promise, I believe her best days have not yet been lived."
