There are sweeping changes in the landscape of mobile technology.

China's very own mobile communications companies are taking on global rivals. Some are even ambitious enough to take on the iPhone. And their secret weapon is a new smart phone that harnesses the power of cloud computing.

Alibaba and communication equipment manufacturer, Huawei, are behind the new iCloud smartphones. And other well-known internet companies are also keen to use the iCloud technology.

According to the industry insiders, iCloud smartphones enables users to store personal data on remote servers. Some mobile phone operators say the launch of the new smartphones marks a revolution of the market.

Wang Jian, Chief Architect in Alibaba Group said, "We aim to tell consumers that a new era of smartphones is coming, that people using a smartphone without the cloud service will be left behind. It will become just as common as people preferring to buy phones with built-in cameras."
