While classes have restarted at primary schools across Beijing, some migrant workers' children were able to go back to class after their former privately run schools by demolished.

Feng Wushun takes his son, Feng Yukun, to his new school. His old school was closed two months ago. Thanks to work by the local education authorities, his son has been admitted to this public school which isn't far from their home.

Feng Wushun said, "The previous school was a privately-run primary school, and we used to pay 600 yuan every term. This one is a public school, so we don't have to pay anything for tuition or textbooks."

After the school's opening ceremony, Feng Yukun started class. Two of his former classmates have also been admitted. The new environment is fresh for her.

Feng Yukun said, "The classroom is quite new and tidy, the teacher is friendly and I've got a lot of new friends."

Feng Yukun is lucky to be admitted to another primary school after his previous school closed. But there are still a number of migrant workers' children in the capital waiting to find a new school.

More than 20 private primary schools were closed in Beijing because of their simple and crude teaching facilities. But migrant workers have to get together the many documents public schools need before their child can be admitted. It is also a major task for the educational authorities to transfer all these children.
