Carrier rocket CZ-2F to shoulder task of Tiangong-I launch

The Long March 2F carrier rocket, which is set to send Shenzhou 8 spacecraft into space, on Sunday arrived at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

The rocket will undergo a series of tests at the center.

Shenzhou 8 is expected to dock with Tiangong-I, China's first prototype space lab, after its launch in early November.

The Long March 2F carrier rocket is being turned around to get ready for assembly. [CRI]

During its two-year lifetime, Tiangong-I, which is scheduled to blast off in Jiuquan next week, will perform two unmanned docking missions with Shenzhou 8 and serve as a test pad for future manned docking missions with Shenzhou 9 and Shenzhou 10.
