A subway train rear-ended another Tuesday afternoon in Shanghai, leaving some passengers injured, the subway operator said.

Equipment failures were believed to have caused the crash on the Line 10 subway, sources from the subway operator said.

Photos posted on weibo.com, China's Twitter-like microblogging site, showed several passengers were bleeding, with firefighters entering the train to rescue the injured.

Local authorities are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
