Although the whereabouts of fallen leader Muammar Gaddafi remains a mystery, a spokesman of Libya's ruling National Transitional Council (NTC) said Wednesday that he know where two of Gaddafi's sons are.

Ahmed Bani, NTC's military spokesman, told a press conference here that Gaddafi's second son Seif al-Islam is holed up in Bani Walid, southeast of the capital, while his brother Muatassim is in Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte.

Both towns, which are the remaining strongholds of Gaddafi's forces, have witnessed prolonged clashes between the NTC fighters and loyalists of the former leader since late August when the NTC took control of the capital Tripoli.

However, Bani said he could not confirm the whereabouts of Gaddafi himself, and failed to respond to rumors saying the former top figure of Libya, which had ruled the country for 42 years, is now in Ghadames, an oasis town in Libya's west.

"This thing cannot be clear now," he said.

Yet, the spokesman reiterated that Gaddafi's whereabouts "does not worry" them at the moment, as their priority is the "complete liberation of Libya" and the security in the whole of Libyan cities.

"After that (the liberation of the whole country), we will do our best to hunt the man," Bani said.
