US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has held talks with Philippine President, Benigno Aquino, in Manila.

Clinton is currently on a tour of the Philippines. The aim of her visit is to boost maritime cooperation between the two countries. As well as signing a declaration underlining the alliance between Washington and Manila, Clinton reaffirmed US commitment to the Mutual Defense Treaty.

The agreement ensures that both nations will support each other if attacked by another party. Clinton will next travel to Bangkok and then on to the ASEAN Summit in Bali.
