Abdul, Hafiz Ghoga, Spokesperson of Libya's National Transitional Council, said, "We confirm the capture of Abdullah Senussi, and this is good news that we would like to share with our people."

Senussi, who had been at large since the fall of Tripoli to NTC forces in August, was seized Sunday in the southern Libyan town of Gaara by Sabha militias. Senussi was seized only a day after Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam was captured in the same region. Earlier, an NTC military official said Senussi had been surrounded at a house owned by his sister.

Following the killing of Muammar Gaddafi a month ago, his son and Senussi were among the highest surviving Libyans on the International Criminal Court's wanted list. The NTC is resisting requests from the ICC to hand them over and is arguing that it can run fair trials in Libya.
