Wen Jiabao visits CCDCP, attends AIDS symposium

Premier Wen Jiabao has visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, to mark the 24th World AIDS Day. Premier Wen took part in a symposium with medical workers, volunteers, HIV carriers and representatives from related international organizations.

Wen Jiabao said China has made great advancements in AIDS prevention. He said conquering future difficulties would rely on science and technology, and China would continue working towards developing a vaccine.

Premier Wen also said society as a whole should eliminate discrimination against HIV carriers and AIDS patients, and governments should provide more support for volunteers working in AIDS prevention.

Meanwhile, Michel Sidibe, executive director of UNAIDS also spoke highly of China's achievements. Wen Jiabao says the Chinese government is willing to reinforce cooperation with other countries and international organizations, and work towards reducing global HIV infections to zero.
