China is seeing an impressive grain harvest this year. Output has risen to a record 570 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4-and-a-half percent. That’s eight consecutive years of growth.

Promoting agriculture - Since 2004, China’s central government has issued a series of favorable policies. And every year, the Number One Document for Urgent Tasks contains what’s known as the "Three Rural Issues".

Raising the grain output started from 2004 - The increase for the past eight years amounts to 140 million tons, 17 and a half million tons a year on average.

The Central Government’s subsidy for rural development has also increased rapidly. In 2004, it was 260 billion yuan. This year, it was 1 trillion yuan. The average annual increase is 21 percent.

To encourage grain production, China has carried out protective policies on prices.

Gao Caixia, grain farmer in Jiangxi Province, said, "My grain output this year has increased by five hundreds tons over last year. Our target for next year is to reach seven hundreds and fifty tons. "

China has also carried out subsidies in four areas: for grain, seeds, agricultural equipment, and resources. In 2004, the subsidy was 14-and-a-half billion yuan. This year, it’s nearly ten times that amount, reaching 140 billion yuan. Strengthening grain productivity has laid a solid foundation for ensuring China’s grain security.
