The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued an alert over fears of terrorist attacks in Kenya. The Office said there was "a heightened threat from terrorist attacks in Nairobi."

The alert comes after Kenyan authorities voiced their concerns that the Al-Shabaab Islamist organization was in the final stages of planning attacks in the capital.

Earlier, a Kenyan military spokesman, said officials received intelligence from credible sources, that the Somali militant group was planning an attack over Christmas and New Year.
