A djembe is a skin-covered drum which originated from West Africa in the 13th century. As a traditional musical instrument on the African continent, people always hang it around their necks or on their shoulders, and hit it with their bare hands while walking. It is a popular instrument for ceremonies and festivals, and is used to express people's happiness through its cheerful rhythm.

This instrument has come to Beijing, and stirred the interest of many young Chinese people as they become loyal fans of its rhythmic beat.
