Foreign language films for Golden Globe Awards

Sunday's Golden Globes feature five very different films nominated in the foreign language film category. There are movies from different countries and regions including China, Belgium and Spain.

Chinese entrant "The Flowers of War" stars Christian Bale as a Westerner who finds refuge with a group of women in a church during Japan's raid of Nanking in 1937.

From Belgium, "The Kid with a Bike" tells the story of a young boy who is left in a state-run youth farm. In a random act of kindness, the town hairdresser agrees to foster him on weekends.

Angelina Jolie's directorial debut "In the Land of Blood and Honey," which tells of a love story set against the background of the Bosnian War picked up a nomination. The actors speak a variety of Serbo-Croatian dialects throughout the film.

Iranian film "A Separation" chronicles a married couple who are faced with a difficult decision: to improve the life of their child by moving to another country or to stay in Iran and look after a deteriorating parent who has Alzheimer's disease.

And Spanish film "The Skin I Live In" stars Antonio Banderas, and was directed by Pedro Almodovar. The drama follows a plastic surgeon haunted by past tragedies who creates a type of synthetic skin that withstands any kind of damage.

The Golden Globe Awards is putting on a gala ceremony on Sunday January 15th, hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais and telecast live on NBC.
